The Bible studies here are unlike anything I have experienced. The discussions are deep, inclusive, and always connect the Bible to our modern lives. I have grown so much in my faith — and I have grown in my spiritual journey and made friends who have become like family.
When my father passed away, the congregation wrapped our family in love and support. From the funeral arrangements to checking on our family and beyond, we felt truly cared for. House of God El lives out its values every single day, and I am grateful to be part of this amazing community
I came to House of God when I was at the lowest point of my life. I was not sure I believed in anything anymore. What I found was a House of Worship —Congregation that did not try to fix me — they just walked with me. That changed everything

No! Dressing up is not a requirement to worship with us at House of God. Some do wear their "Sunday best" but you're also likely to see someone in slacks and a casual shirt, or even jeans. We believe the most important part about Worship is showing up, ready to worship God.
Yes. For most Worship Services and other events there are volunteers and security on site. To maintain a secure environment, we also utilize security cameras and other technology at all times throughout our premises.
Please note we are currently undergoing major renovations to our edifice and structure. We appreciate your patience during this exciting season of growth.
We prefer terms like House of Worship or Congregation over "Church." Our Congregation truly spans the ages — from newborns to folks in their 80s. You'll find just about every type of person here: married, single, divorced, widowed, professionals, workers, retired, lifelong Metro Detroit residents, and those who have just recently moved or moved back to the City of Detroit. But even more important than the kind of people who come here is the kind of people who are welcome here — those who are seeking spiritual enlightenment.
Not at all! In fact, many in our Congregation come from a church denomination. We have many former Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, Pentecostals, Apostolics, and even Evangelicals. We are an "erev rav" — a mixed multitude, a patchwork sanctuary and house of prayer for all people from all nations with different backgrounds, woven together by God's love.
We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels greeted and at home. All services begin with prayer. Our Worship Services span different formats — some are more spirit-led with singing, praise and worship combined with a powerful message, while others feature more contemporary worship music paired with modern teachings.
We would love to answer any questions you may have about House of God. If you didn't find what you were looking for on our website, please email or call us and a team member will reach out to you promptly.
Wyoming Avenue Business Association & Corridor (WABAC)
In 2017, as part of our commitment to social engagement, we launched the Wyoming Avenue Business Association & Corridor (WABAC). The resurgence of the City of Detroit is important to us, and we have organized a collaboration of various nonprofit organizations, businesses, and real estate owners — alongside the City of Detroit — to focus on commercial revitalization in the Wyoming business district and corridor.
WABAC has led numerous community clean-up efforts. To combat re-deterioration and blight, our organization partnered with DTE Energy, which installed Outdoor Protective Lighting, transforming previously blighted alleys into bright, safe, and clean environments.
The Wyoming Avenue Food to Families initiative provides healthy selections of quality produce and meats to local families, seniors, and veterans — combined with other basic essentials including clothing from national retailers such as Amazon, Guess, Nike, and Walmart.
Our community outreach programs run year-round — food drives, mentorship, community meals, and more. Come as you are. Give what you have.
Whether your gift is teaching, hospitality, music, or simply showing up consistently — your contribution strengthens the whole congregation and community.
Follow us on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram for daily encouragement, live teachings, event updates, and behind-the-scenes community life.
Whether you have a question, need pastoral support, want to get involved, or simply want to say hello — this is the right place to start. A real person will respond within 24 hours.
Every contribution strengthens our Congregation, maintains our sacred space, and helps our community programs.
